George and I were together for 14 years. We were on vacation celebrating our second wedding anniversary when we learned that George had stage IV cancer that spread to his brain. He died less than 3 months later.

When George made the decision to discontinue treatment, his only request was to be in a place where we could make the most of our remaining time together.

Our three weeks at Kline House were the most memorable of my life. Being able to stay in George's room and have compassionate, professional end- of- life care gave us both peace of mind.

The staff often knew what we needed before we did. They made us laugh and hugged us when we cried; they helped our family make memories we'll cherish forever. Our family enjoyed cooking together in Kline House's big kitchen, where we made George's favorite treats, including milkshakes. When I needed a few minutes away from all the chaos, I escaped to the peacefulness of the beautiful grounds. And, when George had only minutes left to live, the staff quikly made room for me in George's bed so he could die, peacefully, in my arms.

For these reasons and more, I ask that you take a moment and support Hospice of Frederick County. Your genorisity helps people like George live out their remaining days in peace, comfort and dignity, while supporting those they love, too.

Life takes on new meaning when you know the end is near, but that doesn't mean you have to stop living. Choosing the Kline House for George's last days was the best decision i could have made for our family. I know that George lived his remaining days to the fullest. He was cared for, and so was I. Please find it in your heart to make a donation today!
